Sunday afternoon about 2:30 o’clock George R. [Briggs] died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Sloan in this city, of paralysis, at the age of 78 years and 7 days. Funeral services conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall, were held at the residence Tuesday morning at 8 o’clock and the remains were shipped to Madison on the 9 o’clock train where they will be buried beside his wife.

The funeral of the late George Briggs took place upon the arrival of the noon train to-day. The remains were accompanied to this city by Mrs. Sallie Sloan of Franklin, and Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Overstreet, of Louisville. The interment took place at Springdale, where the wife of the deceased is buried.
