LOCAL AND PERSONAL.
============================
Monrose Brees received a dispatch last week from Cincinnati, saying his son had been drowned in the Ohio river while working on a coal boat. A letter from the Captain, I. N. Flesher, to Mr. Brees says:
“There was a man shipped on St. John Varrett June 22, 1892, at Cincinnati, Ohio, and gave his name as Monrose Brees, Residence, Franklin, Ind. On July 9, at 11 o’clock a.m. while passing coal up the starboard guard, the wheel barrow must have struck side of bulkhead and knocked him overboard, either over or under the double life lines. The engineer who saw him could not tell which, and stopped the boat and reported “man overboard.” The yawl was lowered where he fell over, and two men were sent at once after him but he was never seen again.”
Mr. Brees went to Cincinnati Tuesday but has received no clue yet to the discovery of his son’s body. The young man was about 22 years old, industrious and well respected by all his acquaintances.
