William Bray, a well-known veteran of the civil war, died at his home, No. 1002 Lexington Avenue, Saturday, lea­ving a widow and six children. Mr. Bray was a member of Company G, Sev­enteenth Indiana Volunteers, one of the companies in the famous Wilder bri­gade, to which Gov. Mount and Lieut. Col. V. M. Backus, of the 161st regi­ment, belonged. He was born in John­son County, near Franklin, in 1843, and was well known in Southport and Greenwood. During his service in the war he was twice captured and on one occasion was sentenced to be shot for breaking his parole. His life was saved by Major Owens, of the Second Ken­tucky confederate cavalry. The funeral will occur at Greenwood, Monday mor­ning. —Indianapolis Journal.
