Death of Mrs. W. D. Branigin

The wife of W. D. Branigin died last Monday afternoon after a severe illness of several days. She has been an invalid however for the past few years, but has ever borne her sufferings patiently. The funeral services were conducted at the family residence on West Jefferson street by W. T. Stott in the presence of a large circle of friends. The remains were taken to the cemetery near Amity for burial.

Mrs. Branigin’s maiden name was Nancy Jane Lash, a daughter of Samuel and Susan Lash, of whom the latter is still living. She was born in 1850, being forty-one years old at the time of her death. She was born and raised on a farm about five miles south of Franklin. At the age of eighteen she was married to William D. Branigin. To them were born seven children, six of who are now living. The eldest, Leland, died when about three months old. The others, Elba, Nora, Ollie, Daisy, Verne, and Stella, the youngest, now seven years old, are left behind for a little while. A mother, a sister, two brothers, a husband, and six children number the family who found in her who has gone a loved daughter, sister, wife, and mother. In early life a most beautiful woman, prolonged sickness destroyed the once strong body, and rendered her poorly able to with stand the attack which proved fatal. Her life though uneventful, was a very busy one. Upon the altar of her family she sacrificed all. Like many another woman, her record is in the hearts of those who gathered round the family hearth-stone. Let them be witness to what she hath wrought in deeds of life.
