Delcie I. Branigin, 64, died Wednesday at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. She was a resident of Edinburgh.
She was born Jan. 22, 1930, in Adair County, Ky. Her parents were Arthur L. Barker and Ollie May (Burton) Barker. She married Vera “Mickey” Branigin Nov. 16, 1950. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Mark Branigin of Edinburgh and Gary Branigin of Windsor, Calif.; three daughters, Jeanie Gilp of Edinburgh, Mary Jane McGinnis of Coto de Caza, Calif, and Donna Jo Luzzi of Syracuse, N.Y.; six brothers, Arlon Barker and Orlie Barker, both of Florida; Donald Barker, Calvin Barker and Johnnie Barker, all of Edinburgh, and Marvin Barker of Tennessee; four sisters, Verda Lovette of Texas, Velma Keller of Louisiana, Sally Brown of Tennessee and Kathy King of Florida; and seven grandchildren.
She was co-owner of Branigin’s Clothing Store in Edinburgh for several years. She also retired as Edinburgh deputy clerk-treasurer in 1993, after 11 years of employment.
She was a member of Edinburgh Presbyterian Church and Edinburgh American Legion Auxiliary.
She was a 1948 graduate of Edinburgh High School.
The Rev. Gerald Thomas will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Memorial contributions may be made to Bartholomew County Area Hospice.
