Norman “Andy” Bowman
Norman A. “Andy” Bowman, 63, died Wednesday at Richard L. Roudebush Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis.
He was born May 3, 1928, in Indianapolis. His parents were Ernest Bowman and Pauline (Richmond) Bowman. He was married to Betty J. (Parker) Bowman. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Cindy McDaniel of Indianapolis and Jodi Routhier of Vermont; two sons, Eric Bowman and Andy Bowman; a brother, Bob Bowman; four sisters, Shirley Wuensch of Bargersville, Dorothy Hardin of Indianapolis, Barbara Miller of Vevay and Margaret Thomas of San Diego; and four grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Howard.
He was owner of Bowman and Sons Construction Company for 15 years.
He served in the U.S. Army for 39 years. He was still active in the Army Reserve. He also received the Purple Heart in Korea. He retired at the rank of Sgt. Tank Commander.
He was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Whitestown, American Legion Speedway Post 500, Disabled American Veterans and Forresters Council Court of Indiana 1203.
A service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Conkle Funeral Home Speedway Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
