Macy Bowman Jr.
Macy “Junior” Bowman Jr., 67, died Saturday, June 26, 1999, at his residence in Putnamville. He was a former resident of Greenwood.
He was born July 18, 1931, in Greenwood. His father was Macy Bowman. His mother is Alva (Ash) Bowman. He married Dorothy Ann Butts on Dec. 31, 1976. She survives. Other survivors include five children; two sisters, Dorothy Stillabower of Indianapolis and Barbara Liddle of Inglewood, Fla.; a brother, Robert Bowman of Whiteland; a stepson; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
He was a 1949 graduate of Center Grove High School. He attended Indiana State University and Vincennes University and took courses at Purdue University and IUPUI.
He was a member of the AVA, IVA, CEA, ISTA and AGC. He was listed in the Who’s Who of American Vocational Education.
He taught vocational training at the Department of Correction for the state of Indiana for 22 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.
The Rev. Phillip Badger will conduct a private graveside service Friday. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
