James L. ’Tim’ Bowman
James L. "Tim" Bowman, 88, died Monday, July 7, 2003, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis and a former resident of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was born Jan. 28, 1915, in Chattanooga, Tenn. His parents were James F. and Dora M. (Gollohan) Bowman. He married Melissa (Redding) Bowman on July 18, 1937, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. She preceded him in death Feb. 3, 1999. Survivors include a son, James Ray Bowman of Lake City, Fla.; a daughter, Catherine B. Janniche of Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Bowman; a brother, William Bowman; three sisters, Catherine Gann, Dorothy Cain and Margaret Mills; and two great-grandchildren.
He was employed by Seaboard Airline Railroad as a conductor, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of Lake Forest Baptist Church.
The Rev. Charles Knight will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Friday at Lake Forest Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Fla. Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Indianapolis is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
