Alva Barbara Bowman
Alva Barbara Bowman, 94, died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Regency Place of Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood.
She was born Sept. 10, 1910, in Hart County, Ky. Her parents were Elzie G. and Eva (Butler) Ash. She married Macy B. Bowman on April 16,1929. He preceded her in death in 1975. Survivors include a son, Bob Bowman of Franklin; two daughters, Dorothy Stillabower of Indianapolis and Barbara Liddle of Englewood, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Macy Bowman Jr.; a brother, Hurshell Ash; and two sisters, Dessie Robertson and Hattie Terry.
She was employed by Meier Electric, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of Bluff Creek Christian Church, where she had been a Sunday school teacher for many years.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Forest Lawn Funeral Home (formerly Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home), 1977 S. State Road 135 in Greenwood. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
