Mrs. R. L. Bowen [sic] died at Marion of heart disease. Deceased was a former resident of Franklin. The remains were brought here Saturday and funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. T. Vancleave, at the home of her mother, Mrs. Minerva Smith. Burial at Greenlawn. Wm. Smith, of Princeton, Geo. Smith of Jeffersonville, Mrs. Jennie [sic Tennie] Huston, of Louisville, and Mrs. Peters of Martinsville attended the funeral.

Smith, his forty-year-old, Kentucky-born wife Manerva [sic] Smith and their children, twenty-one-year-old Mary E., 20-year-old William, 17-year-old Nancy, 14-year-old Esaballa, twelve-year-old Manerva [sic] D., eight-year-old George C. five-year-old Tennessee and three-year-old Lilly M. Smith. Mary, William, Nancy, Isabella and Manerva were born in Kentucky. George, Tennessee and Lilly were born in Indiana.
