GREENWOOD, March 21.—Mrs. Ammie Blake, 91, passed away at 7 o’clock Monday morning at the residence, 121 East Pearl Street, in Greenwood. She had been ill for eight weeks and in failing health for the past year.
Born in Franklin on February 9, 1859, she was the daughter of Logan and Ophelia Hackney McClellan. On November 12, 1886, she was united in marriage to George Blake in Greenwood. There were two children born to this union. Mr. Blake passed away in 1902 [sic 1899]. She was a member of the Greenwood Christian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ophelia McMullen, of Greenwood; three stepsons, J. D. Powell, of Franklin; Carney Powell, of Franklin, and Cauncy [sic] Powell, of Aberdeen, Wash.; two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 o’clock Wednesday morning at the Burkhart Funeral Home in Greenwood with Rev. Richard Mills, pastor of the Greenwood Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend the services and to call after noon Tuesday. Pall bearers will include Harold Shirley, Orville Shirley, Guy Foster, Duiane [sic] Rush, Irvin Jones, and David Allen.
