Mrs. Sylvia Bills
rites Tuesday
Mrs. Sylvia Dale Bills, 79, Bargersville, died Saturday at the Franklin Healthcare Centre. She had been in failing health for the past two years. She was born in Bartholomew county on November 22, 1896, and was the daughter of Michael and Mary (Withrow) Herring. On August 23. 1919, she was married to Loran E. Bills, who survives. She graduated from Scipio High School and attended Franklin College. Before her retirement she taught elementary school in Bartholomew county.
Mrs. Bills spent all of her married life in Bargersville where she was a member of the Bargersville Christian Church. She taught the Live Wire Sunday school class in the church for many years.
She was a direct descendant of Abraham Lincoln and was noted for her lectures on Lincoln.
Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Anita) Windisch, Bargersville; a sister, Mrs. Goldie Biddinger, and a brother, Raymond Herring, both of Westport. Three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Dr. R. E. Spencer will conduct the services. Friends may call at any time prior to the funeral.
The family has requested that memorials be made to the Cancer Society.
