Dillard Beeson of the firm, Beeson & Hays, proprietors of the Hotel Meat Market, died Monday afternoon at three o’clock, after an illness of four weeks from typhoid fever. Mr. Beeson was born in Blue River township in 1853. For many years he had been a stock dealer residing in this city and about one year ago with his brother-in-law, Samuel Hays, purchased the Hotel Meat Market stand. When first taken with typhoid fever, his sickness seemed to be of a light form, but a relapse came which proved fatal. Mr. Beeson stood high in the community as a citizen and business man and the news of his death was received with profound sorrow and regret. He was one of those men whose word could always be relied upon. This, combined with a kind and obliging disposition, won for him strong and abiding friendships. His funeral occurred Wednesday morning at the M.E. church under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias of which order Mr. Beeson was a member. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. C. W. Lee of the M.E. Church.
