Herbert W. Beaman
Herbert William Beaman, 92, died Wednesday at Franklin United Methodist Home, where he had been a resident for three years. He was a former resident of Needham Township.
He was born Aug. 26, 1900, in Monroe County. His parents were Samuel Prentice Beaman and Bessie Mae (Burton) Beaman. He married Sophia Mae Wirey March 31, 1929, in Johnson County. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Marvin Beaman of Franklin; two daughters, Marilyn Kerner of Fort Wayne and Phyllis Baker of Columbus; two sisters, Ruth Townsend of Franklin and Frances Hawkins of Cincinnati; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Minor Beaman.
He had been a farmer for 50 years, retiring in 1980. He also was owner-operator of Beaman’s Grocery in Franklin from 1927 to 1931.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Gleaners Sunday school class of the church, Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, Johnson County Farm Bureau and a 60-year member of Franklin Masonic Lodge 107.
The Rev. J. Wesley Hertel will conduct a service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wright Memorial Chapel in the Franklin United Methodist Home. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin and one hour prior to the service at the chapel on Saturday. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.

FRANKLIN — Word has been received here of the death of Herbert William Beaman, 92, of Franklin. He died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1993, at Franklin United Methodist Home where he had lived for three years.
He owned and operated Beaman’s Grocery in Franklin from 1927 to 1931 and was a farmer for 50 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church at Franklin, Gleaners Sunday school class, the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite and Johnson County Farm Bureau. He also was a 60-year member of Franklin Masonic Lodge.
Funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wright Memorial Chapel at Franklin United Methodist Home, with the Rev. J. Wesley Hertel officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at Wright Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin.
Memorials may be made to the special care unit at Franklin United Methodist Home, 1070 W. Jefferson St., Franklin, IN 46131.
