George E. Barker
George E. Barker, 89, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at his residence in Franklin. He was born Oct. 12, 1912, in Johnson County. His parents were Everett E. and Lydia (Drake) Barker. He married Jennie Belle Olmstead on Dec. 24, 1935. She preceded him in death June 2, 1978. Survivors include a son, William E. Barker of Franklin; a brother, Stanley E. Barker of Franklin; two sisters, Eleanor Lucille Records and Marcia Rosemary Beard, both of Franklin; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Elvin Lee Barker.
He was a farmer and retired from Hill Brothers Veneer in Edinburgh.
He was a charter member of Edinburgh Church of the Nazarene.
He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
The Rev. Doug Wright will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Edinburgh Church of the Nazarene. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Survivors include one son, William E. Barker of Franklin; one brother, Stanley E. Barker Jr. of Shelbyville; five great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

EDINBURGH — George E. Barker, 89, of rural Franklin died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Barker was a farmer and retired from Hill Brothers Veneer. He was a charter member of Edinburgh Church of Nazarene and was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Edinburgh Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Doug Wright officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery.
