Burial to be in Greenlawn
Mrs. Linnie G. Barker, of 494 Walnut Street, Franklin, age 82, died Saturday evening in Johnson County Memorial Hospital following a two-month illness. She had been in failing health, however, for 10 years.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today. Services will be in charge of Rev. Lee Jarrett.
Wednesday 2 p.m. services will also be conducted at Vandivier-Parsley Funeral Home for Mrs. Barker’s sister, Mrs. Katherine Chandler, 1502 West Sixth Street, Muncie, who died Sunday morning at her residence. Burial for Mrs. Chandler will be in Greenlawn and Rev. Lee Jarrett will also officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
The sisters are survived by brothers and sisters, George Coffman of Franklin, Charles Coffman of Trafalgar, Mrs. Pearl Short of Franklin and Mrs. Myrtle Cobb of Nineveh.
Mrs. Linnie Barker was born December 11, 1887 in Bartholomew County the daughter of John [Coffman] and Sarah Goetz. She received her education in Nineveh and was married to Marshall Mead. He died in 1918.
She then married Roy Barker in 1926 and the couple moved to Franklin from Lebanon in 1961. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Barker worked at the garment factory in Franklin.
She was a member of the Edgewood United Methodist Church. A son Donald Mead died in 1969. Two grand- children, two great-grandchildren, step-son Claude Barker of Roachdale and a step-grandson all survive.
Mrs. Katherine Chandler, age 90 of Muncie was born Nov. 14, 1879 in Bartholomew County. She was married to Lewis Chandler in 1907 and he died in 1958.
In 1947 the couple moved to Muncie from Franklin. She was a member of the old Nineveh Methodist Church.
Two daughters, Mrs. John Hefley of Muncie and Mrs. Leo Baideck of Florida, 12 grand-children, 34 great-grand-children and one great-great-grandchild also survive.
