EDINBURGH—The Rev. Alonzo James "Lonnie" Arbuckle, 77, of Route 2, died at 9:15 a.m. Monday after he suffered a heart attack while driving on Interstate 65 at the Edinburgh-Ind. 252 interchange.
He was a retired Nazarene minister and also was retired from Chamber Aircraft Co. at Shelbyville.
Funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Jewell at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Holiness Church on U.S. 31 north of Columbus. Calling hours will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Long Funeral Home in Edinburgh. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
Arbuckle was born Sept. 15, 1907, in Edinburgh, the son of James and Lucy Gaddis Arbuckle. He married Caroline Milburn Dec. 30, 1928, and she survives. He was a member of Fox Hunters Club and Southwest Nazarene Church at Indianapolis. He was an ordained elder and had served in churches in Indiana and South Carolina.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Patsy R. Weber of Jeffersonville; five sons, Donald E. Arbuckle of Sumpter, S.C., James M. Arbuckle of Indianapolis, Lonnie R. Arbuckle of Naples, Fla., Robert D. Arbuckle of Edinburgh and Michael L. Arbuckle of Fayetteville, Ga.; one brother, William "Buck" Arbuckle of Nashville; three sisters, Inez Harrison of Indianapolis, Mae Ford of Summerfield, Fla., and Lucille Boll of Ramsey; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
