Anne E. Amos, 87, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Edinburgh.
She was born Nov. 30, 1916, in Gary. Her parents were Charles R. and Edna (Bowell) Emley. She married Maurice Dale Amos on Dec. 30, 1937. He preceded her in death Feb. 21, 1972. Survivors include a son, Robert Lee Amos of Columbus; four daughters, Jacqueline Bowen of Elk Rapids, Mich., Sandra Freeman and Constance Carpenter, both of Chicago, and Deborah Cook of Edinburgh; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Edinburgh Presbyterian Church, Edinburgh Tri Kappa, Delta Gamma Sorority and U.S. Trotting Association.
She served as president of Amos Investments Corp., board member of Amos-Conover Foundation, past president and current board member of Tara Treatment Center in Edinburgh since 1986 and board member of Johnson County Adult and Child Mental Health Association. She was instrumental in organizing Clothe-A-Child in Edinburgh. She loved Edinburgh and was an avid supporter of its growth and development through the years.
The Rev. Frank Bean will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Monday at Frost Hill Farm, 8248 W. County Road 1150S in Edinburgh. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St. in Edinburgh. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
Memorial contributions may be made to Edinburgh Police Department, Edinburgh Fire and Rescue, Johnson Memorial Hospital or Tara Treatment Center in Edinburgh.

Mrs. Amos was a homemaker and was member of Edinburgh Presbyterian Church, Edinburgh Tri Kappa, Delta Gamma Sorority and United States Trotting Association.
