Charlie, little son of Lewis Allen and wife, was born Nov. 13, 1899, and died Aug. 1, 1900, aged 8 months and 18 days. He was a lovely child and was an idol with parents, brothers and sisters. But, “Come unto Me and forbid them not for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” He was placed to rest at Friendship, followed to the last earthly home by family and friends; there to sleep the long sweet sleep until resurrection morn. Dr. Claude Ragsdale attending physician.

Note: Indiana, Death Certificates, 1899–2011, Hensley Township, Johnson County, Certificate and Record of Death, page 8 records that Charlie Allen died at about 10 o’clock a. m. on 1 Aug 1900 in Hensley Township from heart failure, caused by intermittent fever of four day’s duration from meningitis, aged nine months and eighteen days. He was male, white and single, born in Indiana to Louis [sic] Allen, born in Illinois, and Rebecca Sparks, born in Indiana. C. E. Ragsdale was the informant. Charlie was buried in Bethlehem [sic] on 2 Aug 1900, Forsyth & Richardson, undertaker.
