George C. Adams, one of the oldest pioneers of Johnson county, died Wednesday night at his home in Needham township at the advanced age of 86 years, 5 months and 20 days. He was born in Washington county, Ky., January 30, 1806 and came to this county in 1819 with his parents Elisha and Jane Adams settling on the farm near Amity known as the Coffett farm.
He was married April 3rd, 1828 to Elizabeth Taylor to whom four children were born. Of these Hannah M. alone survives and now resides at the homestead. The deceased helped to organize the county in 1820, casting a vote when but fourteen years old. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Franklin where he had held a membership more than sixty years. He was honored and respected by all his neighbors and acquaintances. The funeral occurred Friday, July 22, conducted by Rev. L. P. Marshall.
