John F. Beckenholdt


MIDDLETOWN - John Frederick Beckenholdt, 81, retired farmer of Rt. 4, Muncie, died Friday afternoon at St. John's Hospital. He had been in failing health for four months.

A native of Dearborn County, born March 22, 1885, he had resided 38 years in Henry and Delaware Counties. He was a member of Cross Roads Lutheran Church. His wife died in 1959.

Surviving are a son, Ted Beckenholdt of Rt. 1, Daleville; four daughters, Mrs. Roy (Louisa) Amdor of Farmer City, Ill., Miss Martha Beckenholdt of Greenfield, Mrs. Alvin (Adelaide) Meyer of Milan, Ind., Ms. John (Reta) Cheesman of Rt. 4, Muncie; a sister, Mrs. Emma Lange of LaPorte; 12 grandchilldren and two great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to the Ballard and Shirey Funeral Home in Middletown where friends will be received after 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Cross Roads Lutheran Church by Paster Frank Hurst. Burial will be in the Miller Cemetery.

Alice Beckenholdt

WILKINSON - Alice Anna Beckenholdt, 70, Rt. 4, Muncie, died Sunday at her home.

A native of Dearborn County, she had lived in Henry and Delaware Counties 31 years.

Survivors include: her husband, John; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Amdor of Farm City, Ill., Miss Martha Beckenholdt of Greenfield, Mrs. John Cheeseman of Williamsburg and Mrs. Alvin Meyer of Milan; one son, Theodore Beckenholdt of Rt. 1, Daleville; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Theodore Grabeman of Dayton, Ohio, Mrs. Edwin Thieman of Aurora and Mrs. Edwin Hillman of Lawrenceburg; three brothers, William Meyer of Lawrenceburg, Herman Meyer of Mahomet, Ill., and Albert Meyer of Middletown.

Friends are being received in the Ballard and Shirey Funeral Home, Middletown. Services will be conducted in Cross Roads Lutheran church at 2 p.m. today by the Rev. David Farley. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
