Mrs. Anna Cordes Dead
Mrs. Anna Cordes, widow of the late Conrad Cordes, age 78 years, died Thursday morning at the hospital at Madison. The remains were brought here this morning, and the funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon. Short services will be conducted from the home of Mrs. Albert Wieneke at 1:30 o'clock and at 2 o'clock services will be conducted from the St. Paul church by Rev. H. R. Booch.
Mrs. Cordes was born in Germany, March 7, 1834, and moved to this country with her parents when she was about 8 years of age, settling near Lawrenceburg, this state. At the age of 19 she was married to the late Conrad Cordes and for a number of years they lived in Dudleytown. To this union were born ten children, six of whom are living. They are, Mrs. Joseph Whittaker of Cincinnati; Mrs. Albert Wieneke of Seymour; Mrs. Frank Heuser of Indianapolis and Henry, William and Conrad.
About thirty-five years ago a son, Louis, was killed in an accident when a boiler at a sawmill gave way, and the mother was greatly grieved by his untimely death. Since that time she has been in various hospitals for the past thirty-four years.

Mrs. Sophia (Burkhorst) Bode died at her home Oct. 17th, aged 24 years, 5 months and 20 days. She was married to Henry Bode June 22, 1888. Mrs. Bode was a devout Christian, a good woman and loved by all who knew her. She leaves a husband, an infant three weeks old, one brother, two sisters and many of the relatives, who have the sympathy of the entire community. The funeral was held at the Lutheran Church.
