William Bockhorst
William J.Bockhorst, son of Henry and Mary Ellinghausen Bockhorst, was born in Lawrenceburg township, Dearborn county, Indiana, February 27, 1869.
He was baptized in infancy. He ratirfied the promises made for him at Baptism on March 21, 1882 when he was confirmed in the faith of the Evangelical Lutheran church, Bellair, by the Rev, John Sierman, where he remained a faithful member until death.
On July 16, 1831, 12:00 o'clock noon, at the age of sixty-two years, four months and nineteen days, he received the summons, "Come, beloved, to the home prepared for the Lord's faithful," and closing his eyes on earthly scenes, he now beholds the glory of God.
He spent the early part of his life at home with his parents and for a number of years he was a carpenter. Following the death of his mother in 1909 he, with his sister, Sophia, purchased the farm they now reside upon. Here they lived very happily together for twenty years, sharing the joys and sorrows of life. He will be deeply mourned by her, as he was a very devoted brother.
He was especially fond of children, and he will be sadly missed by the little ones who knew him as "Uncle Bill."
He spent all the days of his earthly existence in the same township where he was born,and he was known as a faithful brother, a kind and hospitalble neighbor and an earnest Christian.
Left to mourn are two sisters, Sophia, with whom he resided and Mrs. Alice Engelking of Newkirk, Oklahoma; three brothers, Henry of Lawrenceburg township, John of Aurora, Ind., and Louis of Cleves, O.; two nephews and one niece, William Leffler, Ora Bockhorst and Mrs. Andrew Gree, who were reared by his parents and who were very near and dear to him, and a host of other nephews, nieces and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three sisters and one brother.

Fatally Stricken In Heart Attack
Miss Sophia Bockhorst Dies Suddenly and Is Paid Final Tribute In Services Held Sunday
The sudden death from a heart attack of Miss Sophia Bockhorst at 4:45 P.M., March first, was a great shock to her many friends and relatives.
For more than twenty years, Miss Bockhorst and her brother, William, had lived happily together on the old Henry Reinking farm near Bellair, which they had purchased following the death of their parents. Death entered the portal about eighteen months ago and took the brother, leaving the sister alone. This good christian woman then took into her home a friendless boy, Irvine Warren, fifteen years old, to whom she has been as a mother, and who deeply mourns her passing. She decided to leave the farm and on February 23 held a public sale, prepatory to moving nearer Lawrenceburg off Ludlow Hill.
March 1 they moved into their new home, but it seemed as though the parting from old scenes was too great a strain and as she stood on the threshold of a new life in a new home, the summons came and she went to that home beyond the skies to be with loved ones gone before.
The deceased was born October 2, 1870, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Ellinghausen) Bockhorst. In infancy she was baptised at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bellair. Early in youth she became a member of this church, and in later years joined the Ladies Aid Society. She was a devout christian, never failing to attend services when it was possible to do so. She received her education in the Bellair public schools.
She was especially fond of children and her little nephews,nieces and friends will miss her loving ministrations. Her neighbors and friends, to whom she was a friend indeed, are grieved at her passing.
The Lawrenceburg Township Farm Bureau has also lost an active and enthusiastic member.
She devoted her entire life to her family, having tenderly cared for her father, mother and brother, William.
Left to mourn her departure are three brothers, Henry of Lawrenceburg, John of Aurora, Louis of Cleves, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Alice Engleking of Newkirk, Okla.; two nephews, Ora Bockhorst and William Leffler, and one niece, Mrs. Andrew Green, who were especially beloved by her, all having been raised in the home by her parents. She leaves many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held from Fitch Bros. Funeral Home at 1:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon and at Bellair Church at 2 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. A. W. Borchard. Burial in Bellair cemetery.
