Judge Pearce Dies in Dothan
Judge H. A. Pearce, who developed pneumonia after his injury Friday night by a hit and run driver, died at a local infirmary at 12:25 o'clock this afternoon. At the age of 76, Judge Pearce presided over the 20th Judicial Circuit, a bench which he had graced for nearly 30 years and was recognized as one of Alabama's ablest jurists. Prior to his election to the bench, Judge Pearce twice served as mayor of Dothan, in 1895 and in 1900-1. Judge Pearce had opposition for the bench only twice during the 30 years he had served as judge. Born near Milton, Florida, 1 Mar 1861, earce was a cousin of Mesdames W. B. Saunders and W. L. Cawthon, both deceased, and years ago was a frequent visitor to DeFuniak Springs --- DeFuniak Herald.
