I
have a studio photograph of Isadore Augustus SLYDER which was taken at the
Johnson's Studio in Washington DC. Isadore is also referenced at "Uncle Isie"
and "My mother's brother" and notes "died at age 91". The photograph appears to
have been taken in the 1890's with Isadore in his teens or 20's at the time.
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information
regarding Isadore and his family:
Isadore or Isador “Isie” Augustus
SLYDER was b. 7 Feb 1872 in Maryland to parents Isador or Isadore & Emma A.
SLYDER who were married in 1868 in Maryland. Isie was one of 8 children born to
this couple including Catherine “Katie” A.; Eunice G.; Isador Augustus; William;
Grace; Ada Lola; Florence “Florie”; and Raymond SLYDER, all born between 1868
and 1892. Isie married Annie M. CLOUGH TOWN (1879-1963) on 5 May 1950 in
Washington DC.
Isie died 6 Jan 1963 in Washington DC and is buried in
the Glenwood Cemetery in Washington, DC. His obituary lists his survivors
including his wife, Annie; a sister Mrs. Florie UTTERBAUGH of Baltimore, MD; and
a niece Evelyn PLITT SHEETZ of Baltimore, MD.
I am hoping to get the
photograph to a family member and would appreciate you contacting me at your
earliest convenience regarding the photograph and this family.
Thanks,
Shelley Cardiel
