Gisela Cemetery

LOCATION:    Gisela Cemetery is located south of Payson, in central AZ, near the little village of Gisela which is a few miles east off Arizona
State Highway 87.  Gisela is in Gila County on US Forest Service Road 417 on Tonto Creek.  The Cemetery is north of the village about one mile
on the north central boundary of Section 24, just off of FR 417 to the left (west).

The Cemetery, which is almost an acre in area presently contains at least 115 graves dating back to burial dates in the 1870's and as recent as the year 2000.  The Cemetery is presently on US Forest (Tonto NF) land but is planned to be transferred to the County for administration and ownership at some undetermined future time.

All of the Cemetery graves were surveyed and data thereon recorded on 19/20 October 2000 as a part of a USFS "Passports in Time" project sponsored by the Tonto NF.  The recording was done by Ronald L. The following alphabetical listing is of the names and DOB/DOD only.  Other grave notations and decorations have not been included in this listing.

NOTE: xxxx is noted as date of death for persons still living. A single date centered between BORN and DIED means there was no indication of whether the date noted a birth or a death.
