Nunn, Daniel Preston

Daniel Preston Nunn died Friday night (10-24-1952) in New Altamont Hospital.

His wife Mrs. Ella Dalton Nunn, four daughters, Mrs. Bessie Bland, Charlottesville, Mrs. Gertrude Hale, Blacksburg, Mrs. Gladys Howery, Cambria, Mrs. Irene Stein, Fredericksburg, 20 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, survives him.

Services were held at 2:30 pm Sunday in Montgomery Primitive Baptist Church with burial in Westview Cemetery.

Wells, Abraham R

Abraham Rufus Wills, 79, died Monday afternoon at the home of his son G E Wells near Blacksburg.

He is survived by another son P L Wells of Pittsburg, Pa; four daughters, Mrs. M. M. DeWease, Smithburg Md.; Mrs. L. M. Abser, Roanoke, Mrs. C. K. Kegley, Pulaski; 22 grandchildren, a sister Mrs. J E Barton.

The Rev. W. C. Brunk and Elder C. E. Jamison at the Jonesville Church conducted services at 11 am. Interment was in the Falls Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were the Wells grandchildren.

Price, Arthur Hampton

Arthur Hampton Price, 73, died last Tuesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James J. Keister at Prices Fork.

He is also survived by a daughter Mrs. L G Shelton, Kenbridge; two sons Justin L Price, Rt. 1 Cambria; W. J. Price Salem; eight grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. O S Elliott, Rt. 1 Blacksburg, Mrs. Frank Owen, Elliston, a brother James Witt Price, Roanoke.

Services were held at 2 pm Sunday at Prices Fork Lutheran Church with burial in the Snyder Cemetery.

Fleet, Frank Adams

Frank Adams Fleet, 65, died Sunday night in New Altamont Hospital.

Surviving are two sons Arthur and Arnold of Blacksburg; three daughters, Mrs. C P Davis of Morehead City, Nc.; Mrs. W C White and Mrs A E Lawson of Richmond; three grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Alice B Fleet and one brother, Dr. George T Fleet of San Antonio, Texas.

Services were held at the P. D. Oakey Funeral Home with interment in Westview Cemetery.

Evans, Mary Jane Wall

Mrs Mary Jane Wall Evans, 85, died at her home near Blacksburg Saturday evening.

Surviving are a daughter, Miss Ora Evans and a son, James of near Blacksburg; a brother, John Floyd Wall of Indian Head Md.

Funeral was at the Prices Fork Lutheran Church at 11 am Tuesday with Interment at the Evans Cemetery.

Allen, Denia Bell

Mrs. Denia Bell Allen, 69 died Monday Morning at the home of her daughter Mrs. James M. Simpkins in Blacksburg.

Other survivors are two sons, Edward R Davis and Walter H Davis both of Blacksburg, 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral was at 2pm at Lusters Gate Community Church. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.

Summers, Sarah V

Mrs. Sarah V (VanPelt) Summers, 73, died yesterday (11-26-1952) at her home here.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. J T Lucas, Mrs. J M Brammer, Christiansburg, Mrs. Margaret Summers, Richmond, Mrs. D K Carey, Blacksburg, Mrs. L. L. Smith, Portsmouth, a son George Summers, Salem; five sisters, Mrs. G. W. Funkhouser, Harrisonburg, Mrs. O. F. Levell, Mrs. T. T. Stephenson, Miss Lillian VanPelt, Stanton, Mrs. D. W. Trainis, Mesa, Az; three brothers, Frank VanPelt, R. N. VanPelt, Stanton, J. B. VanPelt, Montgomery Al.

Services will be held at 11am Friday (11-28-1952) in Christiansburg Presbyterian Church with burial in Sunset Cemetery.

The family requests that flowers be omitted.

Woodward, Herbert G., Jr.

Hubert Gibbony Woodward Jr. 24, died in a Norfolk Hospital of bulbar type Polio.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Hubert Gibbony Woodward. Mrs. Woodward is the former Miss Anna Edmondson of Christiansburg, also his wife Mrs. Emaline Taylor Woodward and a son Herbert Gibbony Woodward III.

Mrs. Addie Correll, 83, died Monday night in New Altamont Hospital.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. T. C. Lester, two sons, U. F. Martin, and R. W. Howard of Matoka, Wv., a brother J. H. Howard, Pilot; 20 grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2:30 pm Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Home with burial in the Hudgins Cemetery, Rogers

Swain, Joseph M

Joseph M Swain, 90 of Cambria died Saturday (11-22-1952) morning in a Marion Hostital.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. E. W. Hodge, Vicker, Mrs. M. C. Cary, Silver Springs, Md. Mrs. Harry Pace, Charlottesville, Mrs. Walter Williams, Portsmouth; four sons, E. H. Swain, O. B. Swain, Cambria; two sisters, Mrs. Milton Ratcliffe, Pulaski; Mrs. William Roop, Newburn; 19 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Services were held at 2 pm Monday in Pine View Church with burial in the family cemetery at Cambria.

Dewey M Sisson, 49, died Sunday night at his home in Christiansburg.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clytis Sisson, a daughter, Emma Jean Sisson, Christiansburg, a son, Dean Sisson, Christiansburg, two sisters, Mrs. B T Stewart, Mrs Cliff Sisson, Shawsville; a brother, RH Sisson, Shawsville.

Services were held at 2 pm Wednesday (12-3-1952) in Richardson Funeral Home with burial in Piedmont Cemetery, Oaty.

Hartman, Elizabeth D

Word has been received in Blacksburg of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Duerson Hartman of leukemia in a Charleston, S C. hospital after an illness of three months.

Funeral services were held Saturday in St. Philips Episcopal Church. Her husband, William Hartman, and one son Robert survive Mrs. Hartman.

Lucas, George H.

George H. Lucas, 74, died at his home in Ellett Thursday mornings.

He is survived by his wife Mattie Lucas; two daughters, Mrs. Annie Lucas and Mrs. Oakley Epperly both of Elliott, Henry Lucas of Greensburg, Md.

The funeral services were conducted at 1pm Saturday in the Ellett Baptist Church. Burial was in the church Cemetery.
