Anthony Hudgins, b. in Kingston Parish, Gloucester
Co., in 1759, enlisted in Army in 1776 and served at various times
on short tours until October, 1781, amounting to 16 months and
six days in all; served in the Virginia troops as a private under
Capts. John Billups, Josiah Foster, Isaac Foster and Robert Gayle
and under Col. John Peyton. He was in an engagement at Cherry
Island.
