WILLIAM BUCKNER*

Capt. (sailing master) in Virginia Navy three years, b. 1750, served to end of war, d. intestate Feb. 13, 1804, Mathews Co., Kingston Parish, commanded both land and naval services. Issue: Mary, Elizabeth, Dorothy, Susan and Martha. He was detained as a prisoner. The heirs of William Buckner were allowed BW for his services as master in the State Navy for three years. Issue: Mary m. Thomas Norman; Elizabeth m. Francis Armistead; Dorothy m. Bartlett Gayle; Susan m. Ephriam Beazley; daughter Martha had died; she was first wife of Bartlett Gayle, leaving children: Alexander, Matthew and Joshua.
