SOLAR, Robert – Maceo is Dead. Tampa, Fla., December 19. – Robert SOLAR, who spent seventeen months in the insurgent camp of Colonel Raol ARANGO, in the provinces of Havana and Matanzas, arrived on the steamer Olivette last night, and asserts that Maceo is dead. – From the Evening News newspaper of California, December 19, 1896.

SPENCER, Thomas K. - Thomas K. SPENCER, ex-sheriff and one of Hillsborough county’s best known and most respected citizens, passed away at Tampa Monday afternoon, after a brief illness of the grip and pneumonia. Read the full obituary online. [Source: St. Petersburg Times, 11 May 1901].

SPENCER, Thos. K. (Mrs.) - of Tampa, widow of ex-sheriff SPENCER who was dangerously ill at the time of her husband’s death last week, died last Saturday morning.
