Volunteer Information

The Glades County GenWeb Project welcomes donations of data, transcriptions, abstracts, photographs and maps. They should not include images of living people or information about those still alive.

Donors are eligible for Supporting Membership in the FLGenWeb Project, Inc.  Contact the Glades County Coordinator or FLGenWeb for more information.

Who can volunteer?

Anyone.

What you can do

Share your information. Family trees can't survive in a dark closet or file cabinet. They need sunshine and nourishment to grow, just like oaks and evergreens.

Post the data you have collected to the appropriate GenWeb site, Group, List or Board.

Share Rare Original Source Documents by submitting digital pictures or scans to the FLGlades Group or the FLGenWeb Archives.

Share Photographs and Portraits
You can attach photos to your Group post if you have a digital copy of the picture in your computer. The resolution should be no more than 100 dpi, unless it is a VERY small picture. All photos must be in a JPG format or GIF format.

Answer Queries when you can. Surprise someone with a random act of genealogical kindness. On your next visit to the library or archives, research a random query and post your findings.

Transcribe records and submit them to Glades GenWeb or the appropriate FLGenWeb county.

Volunteer

Look ups: If you have access to Glades County records or books that are just TOO big to submit as a post, you can volunteer to do "Look Ups." Be specific about what you have and what you will do. This can run the gamut from checking an index for a name, to getting more detailed information from the library, or even to going to the Courthouse to look up records there.

You don't have to live here to help

Contact your local GenWeb coordinator and offer to help.

You could even adopt a county in your state
