Former Resident Claims Bride At Sturgeon Bay
Of interest to relatives and friends in the city and vicinity is the Saturday afternoon marriage of Miss Elna
Jorgenson, daughter of Oscar Jorgenson, West Union, Ia., to Walter Spude, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Spude,
Sr., formerly of Sheboygan, now of Sturgeon Bay. The Rev. Mr. Baganz read the service in St. Peter's Lutheran
church, Sturgeon Bay.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, who came from Iowa for the nuptials, She chose her sister, Miss Edna
Jorgenson, as her maid of honor, and had a quartette of bridesmaids, Miss Jacqueline Spude, the bridegroom's twin
sister, Miss Shirley Wagner, the bridegroom's cousin of Sheboygan; Miss Darleen Wagner, Maplewood, and Miss Ruth
Rockwell.
Best man for the nuptials was Kenneth Getzloff, and other attendants were Donald Burg and Keith Bangert. Usher
roles were taken by Rowland Smejkel and Clarence Jorgenson of West Union, Ia. The junior bride and bridegroom were
Kathleen Drews, a cousin of the bridegroom from Sheboygan, and Charles Getzloff.
Sixty guests had a 5:00 o'clock dinner at the Nightingale Café, and later there was a reception at the home of the
bridegroom's parents.
After July 4, the newlyweds will be residing at 285 N. Third avenue, Sturgeon Bay. Mr. Spude, a graduate of the
high school there, works as a mason with his father.
Relatives and friends coming from Sheboygan were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kaker, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wagner and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Drews and children and Val Drews.
