The groom is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Dowling of Parnell and has
made for himself quite an enviable record from boyhood he has been devoted
to the grotesque in art. His special bent helping him to develop marked
talent for the making of cartoons. Today he is widely known as a
cartoonist, the field of his work having been correspondingly broad. About
ten years ago he began work as a cartoonist on the Milwaukee Daily News,
later going to Buffalo where he held a like position on the Buffalo Courier.
After that he went to Boston, where he was a leading cartoonist for the
Boston Post and remained there three years. Coming home he stayed with his
parents a year when he determined to go south. After traveling for a time
he located at Fort Worth, Texas where he received a lucrative position on
the staff of the Ft. Worth Telegram, which he is most creditably filling at
this time.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of the Superior Normal school and has taught
in the northern part of the state. She is an accomplished and a charming
young lady known to many in this section, having spent parts of summer
vacations visiting at the homes of her aunts, Mesdames James M. Reilly and
R. Phalen in Parnell where the young people first met.
After the wedding the young couple will journey to Fort Worth, where they
will reside.
