ROONEY-STOKES NUPTIALS
On Wednesday, Sept. 2nd at St. Michael's church in Parnell, occurred the
marriage of Miss Margaret only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Stokes of
Beechwood and John J. Rooney of Mitchell. Promptly at 9 o'clock, Rev. Jno.
Fischer sang the nuptial mass and pronounced the words that made the young
couple man and wife. The bridesmaid was Miss Mollie O'Malley of Fond du Lac
and Frank McNicholas acted as best man.
The bride wore a white embroidered gown with lace trimmings, and veil of
French bride tulle and carried white bridal roses; the bridesmaid was
dressed in white organdie and carried cream roses.
After the ceremony the bridal party, together with invited guests repaired
to the home of the bride's parents at Beechwood where a reception was held
until 4 o'clock when the happy couple left for a short wedding tour after
which they will begin housekeeping on the groom's farm in Mitchell.
The bride is one of the well-known and successful teachers of Sheboygan
County and for years has been organist and choir-leader in the church in
which she was married.
The groom, a young man of excellent habits is well and favorably known in
this vicinity and they have a large circle of friends who wish them every
happiness in their journey through life. Those from away in attendance at
the wedding were: Rev. J. Fisher, Cascade; Atty. and Mrs. F. J. Rooney and
Dr. and Mrs. Edw. Cooney, Appleton; Miss Ella Clifford, DeKalb, Ill.; Mr.
and Mrs. F. Smith, Eden; Mr. and Mrs. O'Connor, Armstrong; Atty. and Mrs.
H. J. and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Rooney and Miss Agnes, Plymouth; Misses Nora
and Mollie O'Malley, Fond du Lac and Mrs. Jno. O'Hara and son Hugh of Adell.
