Miss Doris Klompenhouwer, Robert Gartman Marry Friday

An exchange of nuptial vows Friday afternoon at the parsonage of First Christian Reformed Church in Oostburg joined in marriage Miss Doris Marie Klompenhouwer and Robert A. Gartman. The Rev. Bernard Van Someren read the service at 4 o'clock.

Parents of the principals are Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klompenhouwer, 1118 Center St., Oostburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Gartman, R. 1, Oostburg. Mr. Klompenhouwer presented his daughter for the rites.

The Rev. Dick Vriesman participated to sing two selections, "The Wedding Prayer" and "O Promise Me."

Bridal attire was a floor-length gown of silk organza over satin, and the bodice was detailed with short sleeves and a scoop neckline of hand-clipped chantilly lace applique embroidered with sequins and pearls. A huge butterfly bow and lace applique, touched with sequins, added back interest, and her flowers were two dark orchids with stephanotis and ivy arranged on a fan.

Miss Barbara Klompenhouwer served her sister as maid of honor in a gown of melon colored silk organza over taffeta, the bodice of which was styled with harem skirt, shirred cummerbund and shawl collar finished with venetian lace. Her ensemble was completed with a matching silk organza headpiece trimmed with white flowers.

The honor attendant's ensemble was repeated in the attire of the bridesmaid, Mrs. Marvin Potter, and both held crescents of pink and white carnations entwined with ivy.

Cal Gartman was his brother's best man, and Marvin Potter assisted as groomsman.

A wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride's parents, to 25 guests, and the reception followed later in the church parlors for 225 relatives and friends.

The newlyweds have not disclosed the destination of their wedding trip, and will return after July 1.

Mrs. Gartman is a graduate of Oostburg High School and is secretary for the alumni office and news bureau at Lakeland College. Also an Oostburg High School graduate, her husband attended Lakeland College, and is affiliated with Mu Lambda Sigma Fraternity. He is employed at the Vollrath Co. Among those at the nuptials were guests from La Crosse and Columbus, Ohio.
