Herman Gartmans Celebrate Golden Wedding Anniversary
The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Gartman, Route 3, Sheboygan, was celebrated recently with a
dinner for members of the immediate family at Hoffmann's Riverdale Restaurant and open house at the couple's home.
Many flowers, cards and other gifts were received by the honorees. Out-of-town guests in honor of the occasion were
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schuette, Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kraft, Manitowoc, and others from Random Lake and
the surrounding area.
Nee Elsie Thimmig, Mrs. Gartman was born Sept. 26, 1887, in Town Wilson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Morris
Thimmig. Birth of her husband occurred April 29, 1884, in the same township. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Gartman.
Nuptial vows were exchanged Sept. 29, 1906, in the parsonage of Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. H. Schmidt as
officiant.
Farming was the occupation of Mr. Gartman, who is now retired. Besides being treasurer at Town Wilson, vice
president on the board of directors of Lakeside Coop Cheese Association, as school board member in District 1, Town
Wilson, and as vice president on the board of directors of the former Wilson Telephone Co. His wife is charter
member of the Ladies' Aid Society of Trinity Lutheran Church, Town Wilson, to which both Mr. and Mrs. Gartman
belong. The former was an elder of the church.
Family of the celebrants includes Alton Gartman, Route 3, Sheboygan, Mrs. David (Leora) Schaefer, Sheboygan, and
Harold A. Gartman, Route 3, Sheboygan. There are six grandchildren.
Flowers and gardening are hobbies of Mrs. Gartman.
