Elkhart Lake Couple Observes Anniversary
Relatives and friends from New Holstein and Elkhart Lake last Thursday evening surprised Mr. and Mrs. August Struck
of Elkhart Lake in honor of their golden wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Struck, the former Miss Clara Oesau, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claus Oesau, was born at New Holstein August
31, 1870, while Mr. Struck, also of New Holstein was born April 27, 1869, and the couple was married at the Oesau
home October 21, 1893, and the first ten years they resided at Kiel, where Mr. Struck was a painter. Later they
moved to Elkhart Lake, and for 12 years they resided in which is now the George Fenton place. Mr. Struck conducted
a tavern, and then built their present home. For many years Mr. Struck was employed as painter for the Lauer Paint
Company in that village, but retired a number of years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Struck had one daughter, Ovella, who died at the age of eight years.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Struck are enjoying good health now, although Mrs. Struck fell and broke a hip last February, but
is now able to be up and around again and do her own housework.
