John and James White lived in town of Gillett, Oconto County, Wisconsin, along with other close family members. Their migration began in Canada. Contact was completely lost with them and this is an effort to reconnect with White family descendants in Canada and the States. James T. White and John White were brothers of my Great Great Grandmother, Elizabeth Middleton White Ferguson, (1821 - 1897). the wife of Richard Ferguson of Campbellton, New Brunswick,Canada.

George White, born circa 1797 - 1798, Scotland. Died 1860, Moores Settlement, Quebec, aged 63 years. The year of death and place of birth comes from the 1861 Bonaventure County Census. According to William White Junior's marriage certificate in 1863, his father, George White Senior of Main River Restigouche, a farmer was now deceased. Cause of death: a growth in the stomach. The family name was apparently Middleton and George changed it to White when he came to Canada.  It is believed George White was an escaped British soldier.
Married Ester Turner 1819, New Brunswick.

Esther 'Easter' Turner, born circa 1802, New Brunswick. Died February 5, 1880, Gillett, Wisconsin, U. S. A. (Esther J. White, Born 1802 - Cemetery Listing) Buried Wanderer’s Rest Cemetery, Gillett, Oconto County, Wisconsin. Mother of James T. and John White. John White owns Lot 42. Religion: Baptist.

Children of George White and Esther Turner were:

1.  Elizabeth Middleton White Ferguson, (1821 - 1897).the wife of Richard Ferguson of Campbellton, New Brunswick, Canada.

2.  James T. White, born circa 1831. Died U. S. A.? 1880 Census living in Gillett, Wisconsin with his mother, Esther White and brother, John White and family. Living in Peshtigo, Marinette County, Wisconsin in 1900 with son and daughter of his brother John.

3.  John White, born circa 1842, Lower Canada, Quebec. Married Anna K.  born February 15, 1843. Died February 24, 1879, Gillette Centre, Oconto County, WI. Buried Wanderer‘s Rest Cemetery, Gillett, Wisconsin.

Children of  John White and Anna K were:

H-1) Maude White, born circa 1877, Wisconsin.

1900 Census  Peshtigo, Marinette County, Wisconsin.

John and Ester are missing from the family.

Maude White, age 23, and brother Edward White, age 21, are listed as niece and nephew to James White, who is head of house.  James and Edward are working as  laborers. This would indicate that Maude and Edward's father, John White, had passed away, possibly from the logging accident in 1885. They may have been raised by their unmarried uncle James White.
