SCHROEDER - SCHLORF Family

Mark Johnson, great-grandson of Charles and Minnie, will gladly share information on this old Morgan family. Please contact him by clicking on his name at the top of this page.

Charles (Karl Friedrich Gottfried) SCHROEDER, a veteran of the Franco-Prussian War, emigrated 1873 (probably from Pommern) to Oconto County. His bride Wilhelmina (Minnie) SCHLORF of Dargun, Mecklenburg, emigrated 1875. They were married Dec. 1875 at Forest Junction. Witnesses at the wedding were her uncle and aunt Charles and Maria Loefer, who had emigrated earlier from Mecklenburg.

Charles and Minnie settled in Morgan ca. 1877 and received their homestead patent on their farm in 1885. Their children were Paul, Albert, Lydia (Meyer), Charles, Siegfried, Max, and Frances (Schroeder). The children (at least up to and including Siegfried), were born in a log cabin; Charles shortly thereafter built a fashionable 2-story brick house. The family were active members of the Lutheran church in Morgan.

In 1880 Minnie's brother Henry (Heinrich) Schlorf and his wife Louise immigrated to Morgan, as did their sister Annie (Westpfal). They were joined ca. 1885 by their parents Johann (d. 1903) and Sophia (d. 1906) SCHLORF. Charles and Minnie died 1925 and are buried in Morgan. Johann, Sophia, and Henry are also buried in Morgan.
