I have extensive records on the two Warners and Regal families especially the Warners of the Mohawk Valley, Albany in NYS, Osnabruck in Ontario, and Chase in Oconto County. Some of these records go back to Germany and the French and Indian War. The true Warner surname was Werner, and that Werner immigrant would become a United Empire Loyalists of Ontario (U.E.L.). He immigrated in 1749 on the ship Two Brothers. The Warners were of German Lutheran descent, not the popularized English notion held by Regals in Wisc. or Fla. One ancestor line ends at Stone Arabia, Tyrone County, NY, in 1761.
The Schwartz, Hammler and Gumpert families were decent researched and recorded by a lady named Artis. I researched some of these family ancestors. They are from Bromberg and Vansberg. The key phrase for the Schwartz family farm was "Okollo by Crane on the Brahe (River)."
Stories from another distant Regal cousin of the existence of a 'Regal' Castle are fiction. Baden-Wurttenburg and Alsace-Lorraine are not in Prussia. If the specified ancestor was born in Prussia, then she was not born in the above two places. If she was born in those places, then the census records stating Prussia are wrong. Apparently this argument belongs with Anna Fiedler that married Godfred Regal.
The True History of the Gottlieb Regal Family is based upon actual church, legal, marriage, birth, census (agriculture and population) and other records of the Warners back to beyond the French and Indian War. Gottlieb John Regal and Catherine Elizabeth "Lydia" Warner's marriage record is recorded at the Oconto Falls courthouse. I am looking for the link of Friedrick Wilhelm Regal G.A.R. (N.Y.) to the brothers Gottlieb John Regal or Gottfried/Godfred K. Regal. They all lived at the intersections of C and S roads. Friederich Wilhelm Regal was the backup co-executor of the Will of Godfred Regal recorded in 1884. Gottlieb was the first co-executor listed.
The Chase Cemetery listing of the gravestone for Amanda E. Warner was missed or ignored twice during transcriptions. This infant died quite young and is the daughter of Alba Peter Warner and his very young second wife Martha M. H. Amanda is buried at the Town of Chase Cemetery with a gravestone. Alba and his second wife had two other kids while in Wisc. When the father of Martha died in the mid 1870s, the family consisting of Alba Warner, Martha Warner, Hilliard Warner, and the two young kids moved back east to the second wife's maternal family farm. They never returned to live in Chase. Only Lydia and her dead step-sister Amanda remained in Chase with Gottlieb John Regal. Both of Lydia Warner Regal's grandparents were United Empire Loyalists and their farms were near Osnabruck Center, Stormont County, Ontario, (English) Canada. Lydia was German and her Warner line was Dutch. Both lines were Lutheran. They are not Dutch because they sailed from Rotterdam. All of Lydia's cousins, aunts and uncles called themselves Dutch in the National Archives of Canada in Ottawa. The Werner immigrant family attended the First Dutch Reformed Church of Albany.
Lydia's parents were Alba Peter Warner and Caroline Warner. Rev. Charles Manson married them. No relation to Charlie Manson, I hope! Caroline died about three years after Catherine Elizabeth Warner was born. She is buried in Ontario. All three are Canadian and born in Osnabruck, Stormont County. The church closest to the Warner family farm was Eastern Methodist. This family made a switch from Lutheran.
Oconto records record Jacob and Rose Regal as the parents of Gottlieb Regal and all three were born in Prussia. Gottlieb was born in Posen but is that the city or the province? Gottlieb came here in his twenties. Assuming he worked for a few years for the passage, that means his parent died when he was probably 5-18 years old. Two or three of the brothers survived and came to America. What killed the parents and not the sons? Cholera? An accident? A fire? I don't know and apparently the sons never said.
Like most Chase families, these two were pioneers and hearty stock. They had to be. Gottlieb Johannes Regal lived to the age of 96. Lydia lived to almost reach 102.
