I have been told that the Rahn family came from a fishing village in northwestern Germany. My great-grandfather was Julius F. Rahn and he was from Pommerania, Germany. He settled in Pine River, Lincoln County, Wi. So that is probably where my grandfather, Albert Rahn, was born. In the 1912 Plat map of Oconto County, I found that my Grandfather Albert Rahn had a 40 acre parcel in section 32. He had a 160 acre farm when I was growing up, so he must have bought the adjoining Zachow parcel. I have Rahn genealogy booklet that mentions several Rahn Families arriving in Wisconsin. There is a Claus Friedrich in 1867 to Calumet County, Hans in 1856 to Calumet County, and William in 1890. In 1869 a Auguste and Gustav arrived in Illinois. This publication was a gift and is published by the Halbert Family Heritage. There is a lot of info, namelists, sources, and origins in the booklet. It is a good source, but I am primarily interested in my own family.
