Summary from the Oconto County Times-Herald Aug. 19, 1997

GILLETT —  Henrik and Maren Nygaard came to this country from Denmark and settled in the Gillett area. Their seven children, all born in Denmark, settled in the Gillett area also, they include: Peter Nygaard, for many years Gillett's village clerk. fireman & photographer; had two children Katrine Nygaard Christensen, raised eight children in this area; Karen Nygaard Madsen raised seven children at Claywood Corners, just outside of Gillett,  Louis Nygaard, a photographer had one son; Hannah Nygaard Hilgenberg raised five in Gillett, her husband "Joe" was for many years Chief of the fire department; Marie Nygaard Rush raised nine in Gillett, Gerhardt Nygaard, electrician £ musician, director of the Gillett Band, was the father of five children.
