Jan. 25, 1939 Attic Treasures researched and contributed by Richard La Brosse HERMAN LUEBKE DIES
Herman Luebke, who farmed for more than half a century on the same farm near Little Suamico, died last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Fischer, 836 Gallagher street, with whom he had lived since his retirement five years ago. The deceased, who was 81 at the time of his death, was born in Germany and came to the United States in 1882. He was married the same year and moved with his wife to the farm on which he spent 51 years. He retired from active farming a short time after his wife's death in 1931. His son; Otto, is now operating the home farm. His survivors are six children Mrs. Fischer, Earnest of De Pere, William of Minneapolis, Otto and Mrs. Frank Moore of Little Suamico, and Carl of Pulaski; 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchild, two brothers, and a sister in Germany. The body will be taken
from the Mohr funeral home to the Fischer residence. Services will be held
there at 1:30 p. m. Saturday and at 2 o'clock at Grace Lutheran church
by the Rev. L. F. Gas?. Burial will be in the family lot in Little Suamico.

Feb. 1, 1939 Attic Treasures researched and contributed by Richard La Brosse ALFRED HUEBSCHER, 20, DIES THIS AFTERNOON Alfred Huebscher, Jr. 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Kuebscher, N. Maple Avenue, died this afternoon in an out-of-town hospital
following an illness of six months. The body is at the Schauer
and Schumacher funeral home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Feb. 8, 1939 Attic Treasures researched and contributed by Richard La Brosse CRANDON MAN DIES John Demaiff, 76, Crandon, died Wednesday in an out-of-town
hospital. The body has been taken from the Schauer and Schumacher funeral
home to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Will Allen, Suamico. Funeral services
will be held at 9 a. m. Saturday at the Suamico Catholic church with burial
in the Suamico cemetery.

Feb. 25, 1939 Attic Treasures researched and contributed by Richard La Brosse MRS. STREHLOW DIES
Mrs. Marvin Ralph Strehlow, 31, 1226 Porlier Street, died this morning in a local hospital following childbirth. The child, a daughter, who was born earlier this morning, is living. The deceased the former Erna Grosse, was born in Green Bay and spent most of her life here. She is survived by her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. August Stiller; a sister, Mrs. Rose Grosse; a brother, Oswald Stiller; all of Green Bay; three other brothers, Bruno Stiller, California; William Stiller, Little Suamico; and Paul Stiller, Peshtigo; and by her infant daughter. Funeral services are
to be held at 2 p. m. Monday in the Findeisen-Grelser chapel by the Rev.
Victor L. Thomas, pastor of the East Side Moravian church, and burial will
be in Fort Howard cemetery.

July 1, 1939 Attic Treasures researched and contributed by Richard La Brosse Sobieski Woman Dies at Ripe Age of l03, Saturday PULASKI, Wis.-Mrs. Antonina Sczurak lacked exactly four months of being 103 years old when she died at the home of a nephew, John Ostrenga, at Sobieski Saturday evening. The aged pioneer resident was born in Poland Nov. 1, 1836. In 1868 she came to the United States, lived for two years in Chicago, and then settled on a farm near Sobieski. There are no immediate survivors. Mrs. Sczurak, who enjoyed fine health throughout her long life, out lived her four children and her husband. The latter died in 1930. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a. m. Tuesday
at St. John's Church, Sobieski. The Rev. V. Prue will officiate. Burial
is to be in the church cemetery.

July, 11, 1939 Attic Treasures researched and contributed by Richard La Brosse Oscar Rowell, 78, Passes Away, on Tuesday Morning Oscar Rowell, 78, passed away Tuesday morning at his home on Mineau Ave. after being ill for the past year. Death was attributed, to a complication of diseases incident to old age. Funeral services were held this afternoon at two o'clock at the MacQueen funeral chapel with Rev. Homer Johnson officiating. Six grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers. Interment was in the Brookside cemetery. The deceased was born June 26, 1861 in New York State and has lived in Oconto for the past few years. He lost his left leg following an injury in 1930. Survivors are his widow, Martha, five daughters, Mrs.
Abe Hyland, Iron Mountain, Mich., Mrs. Henry Touschak, Little Suamico,
Mrs. Melva Buch, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Alfred Fisher, Cedarburg; three sons,
Edgar, Oconto, Hosea, Iron Mountain, Mich., and Alvin, Stiles; 41 grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ambrose, Milwaukee, Orville, Sawyer;
Winfield, Hosea, Delmar, Abrams, and one sister, Mrs. Nathan McClure, Iron
Mountain, Mich.

Aug. 2, 1939 Attic Treasures researched and contributed by Richard La Brosse Clarence Delano, 74 Dies After Two-Year Illness Clarence Delano, 74, passed away Wednesday in Oconto after a two year illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock from the Gallagher Funeral Home with Rev. L. C. Becker officiating. Interment will be at the Brookside cemetery. The deceased was born April 5, 1865 in Brookside and moved to a farm in Little Suamico sixty years ago. In 1901. He was married to Ella Pillsbury in Menominee, Mich. Besides his wife he is survived by four daughters, Miss Lorena Mount, Caledonia, Mrs. Olive Jacques, West Allis and Mrs. Gladys Longhurst, West Allis; two stepsons, Delbert Van Alsteen, White Lake, and Thomas Van Alsteen, West Allis; two brothers, Burt Delano, Little Suamico, and Harry Delano, Brookside, and nineteen grandchildren. states four daughters, 3 are listed. There are four daughters: Katherine
aka Lorena, who married a Louis Statler. Then Grace Caroline Delano
who married Jess Mount. Olive and Gladys are correct.

Oct. 6, 1939 Attic Treasures researched and contributed by Richard La Brosse Richard Wedgewood, 29, Little Suamico died last Friday evening following an emergency operation at the Bellin Memorial hospital in Green Bay. Funeral services were held from the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wedgewood, Little Suamico, on Tuesday. Rev. Thomas Smart of the Oconto Presbyterian church officiated at the services. Pallbearers were Asa Foster, Allan Grosse, Edward Coopman, Crosby Whitcomb, Kenneth Grosse and Wilbur Geil, all of Little Suamico. Interment was in the Suamico cemetery. The deceased was born in Little Suamico January 14, 1910. He attended the Oconto Falls high school, where he was an outstanding and popular student. He was graduated in 1929. In 1932 he married Dorothy Allen of Little Suamico. During this time he assisted in the management of his father's farm. Many and varied contacts resulted from his great interest in life about him and his influence was felt by all who knew him. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Janet, 6; his parents, and three sisters, Irene of Green Bay, Hazel, Oconto, and Mrs. Mort Chatell. Milwaukee. Sharing with the immediate family in this great loss are a large group of relatives and friends. |

Oct. 9, 1939 Attic Treasures researched and contributed by Richard La Brosse Services Held Today For Mrs. M. Bramschreiber, 82 Mrs. Malvina Bramschreiber, 82, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Agues Scarrah, Little Suamico, Monday. She had been ill for the past year and invalided for the past four months. Death was due to cause's incident to old age. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 1:30 from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Scarrah, and at 2:00 o'clock from the St. John's Lutheran Church of Little Suamico, Rev. P. C. Eggert officiated. Interment was in the Little Suamico cemetery. Gagnon Funeral home was in charge of the funeral. The deceased was born July 15, 1857 in Germany and came to this county sixty-one years ago. Her husband, Herman, preceded her in death several years ago. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Agnes Scarrah,
of Little Suamico, and Mrs. William Coleman, Green Bay, and two grand-children,
Lawrence Scarrah, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Clarence Bowman of Little
Suamico.

OCONTO, Wis. - Mrs. Bonifas Laduron, 73, well known Brookside pioneer resident, died at her home at 5:10 this morning of heart disease. The body was removed to the Gagnon funeral home here and the funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the Laduron home and at 2 o'clock at the Brookside Methodist church, the Rev. Jerome Nagler officiating. Interment will be in the Brookside cemetery. Mrs. Laduron was born at Champion, Wis., June 10, 1866, and came to Brookside in 1883, residing there since. She is survived by five children, Isaac, Brookside; Harris and Paul, town of Oconto; Mrs. James Couillard, St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. Alex Thome, Brookside; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; also a brother, Clement Lefave, Wabeno, and a sister, Mrs. Alex Laduron.
