Jan. 6, 1899

Charles Bagley, an old and respected citizen of this place, passed from this life last Monday evening. He had been in feeble health for a long time and the end was not unlooked for. Mr. Bagley was 72 years of age and was one of the pioneers of this place. One more of the old landmarks is gone, but his name will remain in the history of Oconto Falls.

DEATHS 
      Mrs. Carrie Urwan, aged 22 years, wife of Frank A. Urwan of Oconto and 
daughter of ex-sheriff and Mrs. H. D. Whitcomb of Little Suamico, died 
yesterday morning of uremic poison, after a brief illness. 

Funeral services will be held in St. Joseph's Church tomorrow morning, 
at 10 o'clock.

A three year old girl was scalded last Saturday by falling into a dish pan of boiling water. She died the next day and was buried on Tuesday.

The ten year old girl of A. B. Chapman died yesterday morning, of diphtheria. Funeral this afternoon.

Johnnie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hollihan, died last Friday, aged two months.

Moses Forcier died at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. He was 30 years old and unmarried.SURING

One of Herman Dieck's little girls diphtheria.

HAYES

Hazel Chapman, the seven-years old daughter of A. B. Chapman of the town of How, died of diphtheria and was buried Friday buried Friday afternoon in the cemetery at Hayes school house, the Rev. T. H. Downs of Hickory officiating.

OCONTO FALLS

Mr. and Mrs. A. Peterson lost an infant child last Tuesday, after an illness of only two days. The funeral was held from the M. E. Church on Thursday morning.

HICKORY

The funeral of Miss Edith Tourtilotte was one of the largest ever held here.

LITTLE RIVER

The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Theophile Carrwen died on Wednesday morning.

SURING

Mrs. Rockell's little daughter died of diphtheria on Wednesday.

HAYES

Diphtheria made a bad visit in this vicinity.  A twelve year old girl of Albert Rockow died of diphtheria on Tuesday night, and was buried the next morning.

SAMPSON

Chase relatives of the late Moses Forcier attended his funeral at Stiles on Friday.

At the home of Joe Shawano Kasick, five miles north of Keshena, on the reservation, a 3 year old child of Michael Mahkinetas and two children of an Indian named Komanakin, aged 4 and 6 years, burned to death last Friday. They were playing up stairs and in some way set fire to the building and could not be rescued.

The four month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward DeRush died last Monday.

CHASE

Roudolph Birr and wife of Oconto attended the funeral of their niece, in Morgan.

SPRUCE

Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Peterson's infant daughter died one day last week, after a brief illness, and the body was interred in the cemetery east of Oconto Falls.

MORGAN

After an illness of but two hours, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Birr died on Thursday of last week, of summer complaint. The funeral was held on Sunday.

The sad death of little Geneva Birr occurred at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rymer, Sept. 22. The child had been cared for by Mrs. Rymer since the death of her daughter, Mrs. R. H. Birr. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor of the German Methodist Church at Abrams. Ida Wahl, Nettie Judd, Mary Wilson and edith Harteau were pallbearers.

The sad death of Edgar DeLano, which occurred at his home near Brookside on Monday, was received with much regret by his many friends here. To the bereaved family all extend heartfelt sympathy.

A ten month old child of G. Gust died on Monday night and was buried on Wednesday, in the German Lutheran cemetery.

UNDERHILL

The death of Jacob Wilheim occurred on Tuesday morning. Deceased was a veteran of the civil was and over 70 years old.

Friends in and around Suring were grieved to hear of the death of Carl Anderson last Tuesday morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Collier attended the funeral of Mrs. George of Chase.

Mrs. Susana Shufelt, wife of Peter Shufelt, died Wednesday morning after an illness of only five days.  Mrs. Shufelt before her marriage was a teacher in our public schools.

Mrs. Caroline Keith, 29 years of age, wife of Cleveland R. Keith, passed away Wednesday afternoon after a long illness.  Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Duffy at St. Mark’s church Friday afternoon.

ABRAMS

Dr. F. A. Hanson died of quick consumption last Monday. 

Dr. Hanson was married in 1886, at Oconomowac, to Miss Mary Moon. Two children were born to them, Ben C. and Ethel L.

The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon under the aupices of the M. W. A. and R. N. A. The Rev. Gray preached the funeral sermon. Floral offerings were presented by the R. N. A. and the Ladies' Aid society. His remains were interred in Pensaukee cemetery.
