Oconto Falls-Funeral services for Mrs. James R.
Volk were conducted at the Methodist church on Sunday afternoon, with
the O'Neill funeral home in charge of arrangements. The Rev. John P.
Simon and the Rev. David Johnson of Madison, officiated and burial took
place in the family lot in the Volk Family cemetery. The casket was
carried by Bernard, Thorpe, and Loval Bunn, John Dobbertin, Albert
Gillis and Edwin Kain. The Rev. Mr. Johnson is a former pastor of the
Falls Methodist church.
Mrs. Volk, who was 79 years of age, died at the Pine Manor Rest
Home at Embarrass on Thursday morning. She had been a resident of Oconto
Falls for many years. Mr. Volk died in June of 1946.
Mrs. Volk is survived by two daughters, Hazel, Mrs. Edward
Wranovsky of Shawano, and Miss Emily Volk of Two Rivers; three sons,
Norman of LaFayette, Ind., Garth of Worthington, Ohio, and Gaylord of
Gainesville, Florida. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Henry
Kingston of Stambaugh, Mich., Miss Adele McKenney of Port Washington,
and Mrs. Leo Polzin of Green Bay; two brothers, H.L. McKenney of Auburn,
Ind., and W.L. McKenney of Waukesha.
Although she maintained her membership in the church of Christ
at Hickory, where she grew to womanhood, Mrs. Volk was active in the
Methodist church in Oconto Falls throughout her residence here. She will
be remembered by many as a teacher of a class of boys for a number of
years in the Methodist church school. She was a kindly neighbor and
friend, and the memory of Mrs. Volk always will be a blessed one.

Mrs. Henry
Kingston, 91, former Oconto County resident passed away Tuesday
afternoon at Mercy Hospital, Oshkosh. The former Viola McKenney was
born Jan. 18, 1878, in Oconto, and grew up on a farm in the town of
Maple Valley. She married Henry Kingston, Mar. 10, 1898 and from
then until September of 1920, they resided at Mountain, where Mr.
Kingston became a well known logger.
In 1920 the
couple moved to Marinette where they lived until 1940. They then
moved to Stambaugh, Mich. where Mr. Kingston established a saw mill.
Mr. Kingston preceded her in death Dec. 5, 1945. She lived at
Stambaugh until January of 1968. She was a charter member of the
Christian Church at Hickory and was very instrumental in the
establishment of the Christian Church, Mountain.
Survivors are
one daughter, Mrs. Eysten (Olive) Andersen, Miami Lakes, Fla.; one
son, Lyle, Green Bay; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Polzin; Addell
McKenney, both of Oshkosh; one brother, William, Waukesha; six
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. One son, Russell, died Nov.
4, 1968, at Key Largo, Fla.
At Soulek
Funeral Home, Suring, after 2 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services Friday
at Christian Church, Hickory. Burial will be in Hickory Cemetery. A
memorial fund has been established.
