The Prinz family moved, as recalled by Christine's children, to a farm near Grignon Lake, town of How, WI. The household moved by horse and wagon, taking several days. Adam Prinz was a veteran of the Northern Armies, seeing action during the US Civil War.
Christine probably attended Grignon Elementary School. She was confirmed at St. Joseph of the Lake Catholic Church, Little Oconto, WI, where her family were members. (This mission was established in 1876 and is now a part of the Menominee County Nation). According to Paul's obituary, Paul and Christine were married at the parsonage of this mission and church records show that their oldest childres were baptized there. In 1907, when St Michael Church was build in Suring, WI, she and her children became members. The younger children were baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's. Records show that Leon Hischke was an alter boy at the dedication of St. Michael. After the death of her husband, Christine continued to live on River Road with her son, Leon, until her death. She was buried at MSt. Michael Cemetery, RR Cty M, town of How, WI.
In 1885, at age 19, Paul left his home in Germany with his father, his brothers Leo and Alvin and his sister Marie for the US. They traveledthe estimated 400 miles to Bremen, where they boarded the German SS Necker, among 591 passengers, and arrived at the Port of New York on the 14 August 1885. His son Rudy remembers his father talked about climbing to the "crow's nest" of the ship, the trip surely was an exciting esperience for a 19 year old man.
After he and Christine were married, Paul purchased40 acres of land adjoining his brother Gustav's 40 acres on County H (now Red Bank Rd.), town of How, WI. All their children were born there. Besides farming, Paul was also employed as a sectionman by the railroad. He sold his 40 acres in 1909 to Fred Schuettpelz and purchased 100 acres on River Road. Court House records shoe that a Warrenty Deed was issued 16 April 1912 to Paul Hischke from McAllister Land Co. in Section 23, Oconto County, WI. This land, puchased almost a century ago is still held by the family. Paul and Christine resided there the rest of their lives. All their children graduated grom Hayes Elementary School. Paul was a lifetime member of St John Lutheran church, RR Hayes, WI. His burial was in that cemetery.
