(Editor's note: Samuel and Lucinda Dutton were among the first pioneers in the Pensaukee area of Oconto County, having come from "Out East" as young adults, before 1860, and raising a family. This historic family page was researched by Gloria Olson and two wonderful late 1800's photos of Lucinda and Samuel have been added by Mike Churchill. Careful study of Lucinda's hands show a woman who had lived for many years with very painful and crippling Reumatoid Arthritis, which would have also affected all the joints in her back, neck and limbs. She would have needed assitance daily. Dressing, hair styling as well as travel to the studio and moving to pose would have been exhausting and painful, as seen on her face. Her pioneer courage was needed still. She died just two weeks after her husband from "shock and grief" according to her death certificate.)
