Heavy fire damage was incurred on an historic church building located in the Oconto County community of Kondike on March 19.

The fire was reported about 11 p.m. at the Klondike Community Church, according to Former Town of Brazeau fire chief Steve Frievalt. The church is located about eight miles west of U.S. 141 in the Town of Brazeau.

Several fire crews remain on the scene on throughout the day on March 20. No injuries were reported.

The church building was the former longtime home to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church Klondike congregation, before the church consolidated its membership with nearby parishes in Coleman and Lena about five years ago.
