As the children born in Germany reached maturity, some began farming in town of Spruce, Oconto County, Wisconsin. These were the families that built St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1892. Their surnames include: Behringer, Berg, Bergmann, Christensen, Gudwer, Hertwig, Krueger, Michaelis, Pagel, Schrader, Schweiberg, Sieckmann, Strache. The steeple is being repaired in 2012 after being struck by lightning.
