Mrs. Frank Henne, 82, a resident of this area for more than 60 years, died in her sleep this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elmer Landin, in Gillett. Mrs. Henne had fractured her hip in a fall on April 19, and after being released from the hospital had been staying with her daughter.
The former Hattie Bergevain was born May 14, 1868 in Bay Settlement, Brown county, the daughter of the Louis Bergevains. In 1886 she was married to Frank Henne, and after two years in Oconto, the couple moved to a farm in the town of Oconto Falls, in 1913 moving to the city. Her husband died December 9, 1938. Mrs. Henne was a member of the Altar society of St. Anthony church, the Legion auxiliary , and a former member of the Grand Army of the Republic. She had been in comparatively good health and was very active until her fall this spring.
Of the 14 children born to the Hennes, four died in
infancy, a son, Frank Jr., died in 1923, and a daughter, Mrs. James
(Pauline) O'Neal died in Chicago in January of this year. Her survivors are
three sons, Oscar, Oconto Falls, Fred, Gillett, and Paul, Butte, Mont.; five
daughters, Mrs. Roy (Rose) Miller, Oconto Falls, Mrs. Elmer (Leona) Landin
and Mrs. Herman (Pearl) Damp, Gillett, Mrs. J.H. (Christie) Venable, West
Yellowstone, Mont., and Mrs. J.J. (Katherine) Tatman, Linwood, Calif.; a
sister, Mrs. Mary LaPlant, Marquette Mich. The body is at the O'Neill
Funeral home in Oconto Falls.
